Clayton County Food Shelf
We began receiving H.U.S.H. (Help Us Stop Hunger) Venison in 2005. Any hunter who shoots a deer, and doesn't want the meat, takes it to their local locker and donates it to H.U.S.H. The venison is then ground and put into two pound packages and given (free of charge) to the local food pantry. At the Clayton County Food Shelf we go through anywhere from two to four tons of H.U.S.H. per year. Having this nutritious, lean protein to give to our clients saves us a lot of money. If we do not have enough room to store it, we lose it and the meat is sent to a food bank in Waterloo. Thank you for your consideration!
