Sherwood Center

Sherwood Center's Community Outings program increases people’s time in their community so that they can explore areas of interest, make connections, establish routines and build relationships that lead to natural supports. It also strengthens the local community by allowing people with disabilities access and acceptance in restaurants, grocery stores and other settings. Eighty-three percent of our families live in poverty. Free events are wonderful, but paid settings (such as restaurants and museums) are also necessary to teach appropriate social skills while in public. Our families simply can not afford to support these trips and we must rely on the generous support from the community.
